Understanding the`The Elderly Challenge`

Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.
1)The four recommendations are Housing, Accessibility, caring and Opportunities for Seniors.
I think Housing for seniors will make homes in singapore more tuned to the elderly needs,so they can live in their house without difficulties.
2)Accessibility for elderly is to make public areas better for the elderly, for example putting up more handle bars at the staircases so te elderly have less trouble walking.
3)Caring for elderly is to give support to those elderly with special needs, like those with stroke. We could help them by putting them in nursing homes,or changing their house so as it is suitable for their condition.
4) Opportunities for Elderly helps them to lead a healthy lifestyle and interact with their families

State ONE way that the CAI report is recommending to make our public housing more elderly-friendly
They are recommending that the Government should consider introducing guidelines for the provision of accessibility and safety features in the homes for seniors, through a review of the Code on Barrier-Free Accessibility, to create a more elder-friendly environment.

State TWO ways on how we can ensure that the quality of elderly care here in Singapore is affordable
1)The Government should top-up Medisave accounts of less well off Singaporeans when there are budgetary surpluses to ensure that seniors have the means to afford healthcare services.
2)The Government should set up a Caregiver Centre to support families in care-giving through provision of information resources and programmes.

After reading the CAI report, what do you are the THREE things that you can do, as an SST student, to help overcome these elderly challenges
1)We could do simple tasks for them, like help them with their groceries,or helping them climd stairs
2)We could invent a tool to help them in their daily activities
3)We could hold programes for the elderly to interact with them
